When you move into Algonquin Square Apartments, you will have easy access to some of the best local festivals and traditions of the Algonquin community. Each year our town hosts a number of events which have become mainstays in the lives of Algonquin residents, in some cases for multiple generations.
Art lovers will feel very much at home at the Art on the Fox festival, entering into its ninth consecutive year in 2016. Every summer, artists from throughout the United States, including well-established veterans and emerging newcomers, come to Algonquin to present their work. The festival displays a wide variety of styles, from naturalistic landscapes and portraits to more adventurous abstract works. Kids can even create and show their own artworks in the festival’s “Picasso Tent.” This year’s Art on the Fox will take place at Riverfront Park on Saturday, June 18th and Sunday, June 19th.
Also returning to Riverfront Park this year is the Algonquin Summer Concert Series. Whether you like rock, country, jazz or R&B, there’s always something exciting for music lovers to hear. In addition to the great live shows, food trucks representing the area’s best restaurants will be on hand to provide delicious meals to concert goers. Events will kick off on June 23rd and run through August 18th.
Held annually during the last full weekend in July, the Algonquin Founders’ Days celebrations have been a fixture in our community for decades. Founded in 1960, this festival is the ultimate small-town American carnival. Complete with parades, live music, competitions, games, fireworks and your favorite carnival rides, it’s a weekend like no other. This year the festival will return to the lovely Towne Park at 100 Jefferson Street and take place between July 28th and 31st.
