With over 20 virtual events held weekly, the Algonquin Public Library has something for everybody. Now you can pick up that new hobby or make some friends from the comfort of our Algonquin apartments. There is plenty to discover in the library’s diverse events calendar. Check out some of their most popular virtual events below and learn how to sign up for virtual classes at the Algonquin Library.

Take a Virtual Tai Chi Class

Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese martial art with proven health benefits such as reduced stress, improved sleep, and increased flexibility. The Algonquin Public Library offers weekly virtual tai chi classes at no cost. There are classes for all levels from beginner to more advanced. They also offer a seated version of the class. Sign up online to find your inner Zen and learn about the ancient art of Tai Chi.

Learn a New Instrument

The library is offering free individual guitar and ukulele lessons virtually over Zoom. Now is your chance to learn a new instrument. All you need is your own guitar or ukulele and an appointment with one of their teachers. Lessons include instruction on how to strum, as well as play basic chords and rhythms. Go ahead, let that inner rock star out!

Discover Your Genealogy

If you’ve ever wanted to learn more about your ancestry, the library offers a virtual Genealogy 101 class. This class dives into strategies and resources you can use to begin your genealogy journey. In addition, you’ll learn all the skills you need to begin to unlock the fascinating mysteries of your family history.
